Andrew Ross Samuels didn't need another day in court: The student who lost his $470,000 inheritance in Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme settled out of court with Madoff's brother, Peter.

Earlier this year, if you recall, Samuels was able to freeze Peter Madoff's assets pending the outcome of his attempt to get his money back. Peter Madoff had "invested" the kid's money in brother Bernie's scheme.

No terms of the settlement were revealed but at least this way Samuels probably also got the Madoff trustee, Irving Picard, off his back. Picard had demanded that Samuels return $62,000 that the kid had actually gotten from Bernie, and the kid refused. That mess is probably now moot.
